Methods and Usage
Externally:
- Ointments, bath additives.
- Allspice in ointment form or a few drops of oil added to a bath may help to relieve muscle aches.
Infusion / Tea
Bring the water to a boil, add the herbs and remove from heat. Allow to steep 5 to 15 minutes. Strain and drink. By heating gently the violatile oils are preserved. This method is recommended for lighter, more delicate leaves and flowers. An infusion is how you make your average 'cup of tea' with a tea bag.
Crush or bruise whole Allspice berries before adding hot water.
Spice
The effect of the herb is very mild when taken this way. Think of it as a way to gently support the body rather than the heal an acute ailment.
