Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is a malignant tumour of the prostate gland, which is a gland in men the size of a walnut and situated just below the bladder. It occurs when the cells of the prostate begin to grow uncontrollably.

Symptoms of prostate cancer includes:
  • A need to urinate frequently, especially at night
  • Difficulty starting urination or holding back urine
  • Weak or interrupted flow of urine
  • Painful or burning urination
  • Difficulty in having an erection
  • Painful ejaculation
  • Blood in urine or semen
  • Frequent pain or stiffness in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs

There are no fix method of treatment when it comes to prostate cancer. However, there are ways that could help you preventing it. For starters, research has shown that by taking fish that contains a high amounts of omega-3 fats such as salmon and mackerel may help to protect men from prostate cancer. Also by eating fresh fruits and vegetables helps to prevent this type of cancer.

Be sure to eat a lot of cruciferous vegetables as it contain sulforaphane. It strengthens the protective proteins in the body that cleans up carcinogens before they can harm the body. Cruciferous vegetables includes brussels sprouts, cabbage, brocoli, cauliflower, and bok choy. And don't forget to eat a lot of tomato products too, even better, fresh tomato!

One alternative may be HIFU, which destroys the prostate via ultrasound. Should be worth a look.
