Impotence

An erection occurs when blood fill the blood vessels in the penis. The process is triggers by sexual stimulation, which causes nerves in the brain and spine to signal arteries in the penis to expand. The inability to get or maintain an erection is called impotence.

The main cause of impotence is poor circulation and impaired blood flow through penis, which usually cause by atherosclerosis. Other possible reasons include hormonal imbalances, prostate disease, diabetes, nerve disorders or side effects from medications. Rest assure to know that only one in ten cases is purely cause by psychological.

This may sound funny but you're able to determine whether the problem is physical or psychological by using the "postage stamp test". Encircle the penis with stamps from a roll, gluing them end to end. If night-time arections occur (because erections also accur involuntary during sleep) the stamp will be torn in the morning, suggesting that the cause of impotence is probably psychological. This type of impotence is usually strees related and often temporary.

Prescription drug such as cialis and viagra could help. However supplements are great to help improve the blood flow to the penis. Vitamin C plays a role in keeping blood vessels supple, allowing them to expand and let more blood pass through. Flaxseed oil and evening primrose oil contain different types of essential fatty acids that also improve blood flow, and if taken long term they can also help by lowering cholesterol and preventing blood vessels from narrowing. Ginkgo biloba, which increases blood flow in the brain, may have similar effect on the penis.

The herb saw palmetto may be useful when impotence is a result of prostate disease. Studies on animal shown that Panax Ginseng and Siberian Ginseng boost testosterone levels and increase mating behaviour. They may have similar effects on human which could boost your wild side. *wink*

Also try tea made with Muira puama, also known as potency wood, long been used in Brazil as an aphrodisiac.
